Thunderbolts
Gravel Overnighter & Monument Gloucester
NSW

26-27 April 2025

Due to rising operational costs and logistical challenges, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to return Thunderbolts to its roots as a fully self-supported community ride in 2025.

In true bikepacking style, riders must be entirely self-sufficient and carry everything they need on their bikes.

We will have one (possibly two) support vehicles, providing basic mechanical assistance and carrying some water. To help cover costs, we ask for a $50 donation per rider. This can be paid via our entry portal (same link as before if you still intend to join us). Please note that the support vehicles will not transport luggage. This means there will also be no official timing, feed stations or event photography.

All riders still planing to ride will depart Gloucester from at 6:30 AM. You choose whether to return to Gloucester in one day (monument) or spread the ride over 2 days (overnighter). Please plan accordingly and ensure you have everything you need for a fully self-supported ride. Send us you ride on Strava if you want it to count towards the overall bushranger series.

Riders are responsible for their own food and accommodation in Moonan Flat. You’re welcome to dine at the pub or bring your own food.

The One Day Monument

In 2017 we started with a group of 40 odd riders to take on the very first Thunderbolts Adventure. It was a big hairy ride covering 230km on mostly gravel roads and 5,000m of vertical climbing.

In 2025 we are bringing back The Monument. We know there are a lot of cyclists in NSW and beyond who are still keen to sign up for this mammoth challenge.

The Monument will start at 6:30am in Gloucester on Saturday 26th April.
