Back in 2017, a frothing pack of 40-odd legends lined up for the first-ever Thunderbolts Adventure—a beast of a ride spanning 230km of rugged gravel and 5,000m of lung-busting elevation. It was wild, it was brutal, and it was unforgettable.
Now, in 2025, The Monument is BACK. Whether you’re here to race it all-out or just survive to tell the tale, this is the ultimate test of grit, gravel, and guts in the toughest one day gravel event in Australia.

The Monument: This is the BIG ONE. Be sure to check in at the Moonan Pub. 230km. 5,000vm return to Gloucester.
Start at 6:30 AM Saturday April 26th at Boundary St, Gloucester.
The Monument Overnighter: 230km. 5,000m vert return. Ride to Moonan Flat. Camp out and then return to Gloucester on Sunday.
Start at 8:00 AM Saturday April 26th at Boundary St, Gloucester.
The Colt: A new 90km loop—still spicy, but a bit less of the lung busting and more of the heart soothing.

Hydration Stations & Support:
While this is a self-supported ride, we’ve got your back where it matters:
✅ Mechanical & water stop at Cobark Lookout 62km (Monument and Overnighter riders).
✅ Compulsory check-in & bottle drop at Moonan Pub 110km (Monument riders).
✅ Hydraplay Drinks Stations at 51km (Colt only), and 76/215km for Colt/Monument (both Monument and Colt riders pass through this stop)
✅ Sweep vehicle on course for All riders.

A $50 donation covers support services—drop it in via the entry portal. No official timing, but upload your ride to Strava to get it counted towards the overall Bushranger series.

The One Day Monument
In 2017 we started with a group of 40 odd riders to take on the very first Thunderbolts Adventure. It was a big hairy ride covering 230km on mostly gravel roads and 5,000m of vertical climbing.
In 2025 we are bringing back The Monument. We know there are a lot of cyclists in NSW and beyond who are still keen to sign up for this mammoth challenge.
The Monument will start at 6:30am in Gloucester on Saturday 26th April.
