Gear Review: New Detour Kit
Just a quick wrap on our new kit from Detour Custom Apparel.
I finally got out for a proper ride this morning, for change we had some blue sky in Sydney and a pleasant enough 12-16 degrees.
My plan was to head out to Akuna Bay; a delighful, peaceful national park loop near Terrey Hills. I started with a long sleeve jersey over my new kit, but soon warmned up to remove that by the time I reached Terrey hills.
Riding along, I felt very comfortable in the Detour kit. The sign of a good kit is you dont even feel like you have much on. No pinch points, no tightness, no pulling to keep it in position. You just put it on and ride.
The cargo pockets on the sides of the bibs are generous with just the right amount of tension to keep them tight against your body.
The jersey pockets are a good size and low enough so you dont have to dislocate your shoulder evry time you need to reach into them.
The material is very high quality, as are all the elements such as the cuffs, zipper and elastic bands.
The chamois is super smooth and comfortable. For me it hits the mark in terms of just enough padding but not too much. As such, I am quite confident these bibs would suit me perfectly for multi day adventures.
My order was for a size large in cargo bibs ($159) and core jersey ($149). I opted for the longer leg length and longer sleeve length and am very happy with the fit. I am 188cm and about 80kg. Price delivered was $310. Pretty good for a custom kit of this quality. There are a bunch of other designs and jerseys available starting from $79
