Our friends over at Bicycle Queensland are launching a brand-new off-road adventure this May, and it looks like a cracker. If you’re looking to escape to the Noosa Hinterland for a weekend of mixed-terrain exploring, this one is for you.
Weekend at Pomona is designed for the "adventure-curious"—intermediate gravel grinders, mountain bikers, e-bike explorers, and active families with teens. Based out of the character-filled town of Pomona, you'll spend two days tackling the best of the Noosa Trail Network, quiet backroads, and lush ridgelines.
The Riding
Each day offers two distinct flavours: a shorter, dedicated off-road loop or a longer, more challenging gravel-heavy mission.
Saturday, May 16:
Off-road Explorer (32km, 750m vert): A scenic, 80% off-road loop through Cooran and around Mt Pinbarren. Bring the MTB for this one—the gearing will be your best friend on the climb to James M McKane lookout!
Go for Gravel (79km, 1600m vert): The "big day out" through Woondum National Park. At 65% off-road and mostly gravel/backroads, this is a prime challenge for the gravel bike.
Sunday, May 17:
Gravel Explorer (37km, 500m vert): A gentler morning flow through Tewantin National Park. 60% unsealed roads with minimal technical trail—perfect for the gravel bike.
Get Out There!: A rugged loop exploring Black Mountain and the Noosa Trails. Expect ridgetop views and fast, rewarding descents.
