Gippsland-Monaro Strade Sterrate

March 10 @ 6:00 am - March 12 @ 6:00 am

The Gippsland-Monaro Strade Sterrate is a 600km mixed terrain, or in Audax Australia terms, Brevet Gravel ride. Approximately 50% of the course is dirt or gravel roads, or rail trail. The ride starts in Bairnsdale in Gippsland, Victoria, and ends in Canberra, ACT. It traverses the Australian Alps, the Monaro plains and finally into Canberra. Many of the roads are low volume back roads and incredibly scenic.

The course can be viewed via Ride With GPS. It’s not yet finalised, still some recon to do. The Route Page contains a longer description of the route.

It’s a tough course, with an estimated 10,000m of climbing, 600km and of which about 50% is unsealed roads. There are long sections without services.

Bairnsdale, Vic – Nowa Nowa – Buchan – Little River Gorge – Jindabyne – Dalgety – Nimmitabel – Cooma – Adaminaby – Tharwa – Canberra, ACT
